This Years 'must have' from Lauren at BlueBird Creative

March 13, 2017

A few weeks ago I had a fantastic and inspiring meeting with the very lovely Lauren from Bluebird Creative.

Luxury event planners see such a broad spectrum of ideas and trends and are always a fountain of knowledge on whats hot and whats not.

So here, in our first ever 'guest blog' interview, Lauren kindly agreed to share a bit of inside knowledge with us about what she’sees trending for the year ahead.

By Lauren Goodman, Bluebird Creative Events Ltd

"2017 brings an array of hot new trends for the upcoming wedding season. At Bluebird Creative we know it’s the finer details that make a truly memorable experience and therefore being on top of what’s hot and what’s not is a crucial part of being an event planner.

Within our company we have experts in both the technical and creative details, which in our opinion helps us with our bespoke planning process and produce the perfect wedding our clients are hoping for. We want them to experience the unforgettable, so by not only taking the stress of planning their event away, we aim to create something memorable, by combining our styling techniques and attention to detail, we really can create something our clients and their guests won’t forget.

These next 7 trends are what we expect to see appearing in wedding and event styling over the next season and beyond.

Greenery

Greenery is a massive trend this season. With Pantone announcing it as their ‘colour of the year 2017’, it’s got all the creatives buzzing. We’re thinking foliage, herbs, green bouquets, fern, grass and the fresh scents that come with it.

Copper and Rose Gold

This is a trend that started to appear in the second half of 2016, but is really going to make a bigger impact in 2017. It adds a touch of elegance and luxury to an event and blends nicely with a few other trends that will be appearing this year.

Expect to see tableware and cutlery in these lush tones, copper piping floral installations and cute little copper terranium centrepieces filled with flowers.

Industrial Geometric

When you mix modern art and event styling you create something in the realm of industrial geometric.

Using piping and glass to create geometric structures and shapes, whether it be some sort of hanging installation for a floral display or lighting; or hexagonal and diamond shaped cages for candles and centrepieces. This trend will leave your guests talking!

Grey and Blush

I think we will start to see the gorgeously subtle tones of grey and blush making their way onto wedding planners mood boards this year. These neutral tones are timeless and for that couple that want to look back on something a little less ‘out there’ and a bit more classic, then this is such a gorgeous trend to go with.

Grey and blush are a perfect match for weddings as they are soft and romantic. If a touch of luxury is what you desire, adding copper and rose gold to this duo can create an elegant combination.

Hanging Installations

We’re seeing more hanging installations in the luxury event planning industry and I don’t think their time is up just yet.

They are big budget but do pack a big WOW factor! If you want something to remember then having a floral designer work with your styling team to create a stunning hanging installation over your top table is certainly going to leave a last memory for both you and your guests!

Gin Bars

Since the law in the UK changed, allowing gin to be produced in small quantities rather than on a large industrial scale, the UK has seen a huge influx of craft gin makers, with ‘boutique distilleries’ popping up all over the country. Thus kick starting a new found love of gin for us Brits.

Gin bars are the latest drinking trend so what a great idea to have at your wedding or event! That will definitely get your guests talking!

Art Deco

I think the vintage trend we have seen used at weddings over the last few years is going to take a side step over to the great Gatsby era.

With serious vintage glamour, the art deco theme will feature geometric shapes, copper and gold shades and velvet furnishings. A luxury wedding planners dream.
